Rising Star: Paige Bell Wins Prestigious Award at Diabetes Nursing Awards 2025
PITstop Diabetes is proud to share the fantastic news that Paige Bell, one of our lead trainers on the Foundation and Advanced courses, has been awarded the Rising Star Award at the Diabetes Nursing Awards 2025, held on Friday 6th June in London.
This award celebrates a promising newcomer in the world of diabetes nursing who has demonstrated exceptional potential and dedication to diabetes care. To receive this honour, candidates must show outstanding early-career achievements, including:

Change of Accreditation for PITstop Courses – June 2025
We would like to inform commissioners and Healthcare Professionals who have attended or are due to attend a PITstop course that the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) has ceased its accreditation service. For the past 11 years, our PITstop courses have been accredited by the RCGP, and we are proud to have maintained their high standards throughout this period. Our annual accreditation for the 3-day PrePITstop Foundation course, 1-day PrePITstop Key Message Course and 2.5-day PITstop Advanced Course ended with the RCGP on 10th June 2025.
Following this change, the RCGP has recommended the Personalised Care Institute (PCI) as an alternative body offering accreditation with similarly high standards.

We have developed a range or courses to meet the needs of HCPs to help ensure the best Type 2 diabetes patient. Following requests from ICBs and training hubs we have designed the below courses.

Changes to the 2.5-day PITstop advanced diabetes course accreditation
We have decided to change the way the 2.5-day PITstop advanced course (PITstop) is accredited, moving away from University Accreditation and applying for RCGP accreditation to ensure we continue to meet the high standard we strive to maintain. At present PITstop is credit rated with Greenwich University (15 credits at level 5). To obtain the additional 15 credits, students have 12 months from day 1 of their course, to submit a completed competency document (signed by a local assessor) and a 1500-word reflective report about one of their insulin or GLP-1 Agonist initiations. In a cohort of 24, on average, 2-3 students choose to submit.

We are pleased to announce that Anne Goodchild has won the vote for ‘Oustanding Educator of the Year’. A BIG thank you to everyone who voted for Anne and who has supported Anne and PITstop courses over the years.
Anne and Lauren enjoyed the awards evening at Sanofi UK Headquarters in Reading on 12th October 2023 and said, “It was a great evening, lovely to see so many familiar faces, celebrate the innovation happening in diabetes and of course Anne’s win!”

Join the PITstop diabetes training team
An opportunity has arisen to join our team of highly committed trainers, as part of our plans to expand the PITstop diabetes training team.
Our training portfolio focuses on developing practice-based diabetes teams and we are looking for enthusiastic and experienced trainers, working part-time in diabetes roles. See our course descriptions and 2025 course dates.
Ideally you will have experience delivering diabetes training, along with diabetes-related qualifications to enable you to feel competent in this highly skilled role. The majority of our courses take place Tuesday-Friday.

We have already piloted a 1-day HCA course and a 1-day PrePITstop and both well evaluated positively. All students that attended them stated that they would recommend the online courses to others.
We will be sending out resources packs, including the June 2020 workbooks to every delegate.
